got my promotion letter today..ok actually not promotion lah, basically you rise 1 grade after working for a year (yay pay raise!). yes i’ve been working for a whole year! goodness.
hmm so what’s changed in this one year? my bank account is slowly but surely growing, i’ve become a little more informed abt how the govt and parliament works (before this, i had no idea what those bored-looking MPs were doing sitting around in parliament), i think i have a better idea of what i want to do with my life, and we’re going to have our own house in less than 3 years. when you’re a student, it feels like you have all the time to waste and nothing seems to be settled because you have no idea what lies ahead after school ends. but once work starts and money comes in on a fixed schedule, suddenly things start to fall in place and you can afford to make plans.
actually i think i did quite ok in my first year. minor mistakes and some buay-zai-ness aside, i think i managed to cope with the steep learning curve and fast pace of life here. even my boss said fresh grads usually take a much longer time to get into the groove of things. in the coming year, i hope i make fewer mistakes and have fewer heart attacks. haha. now that i’m no longer considered a newbie (sobs!) i need to be more steady and sure of myself! since i’ve decided i’m going to stick it out and learn as much as i can in this two years, i might as well do my best and have no regrets. jiayouuuu.
(that doesn’t mean i’m not going to complain about monday blues and work irritations hee. complaining is carthartic. if i don’t complain, one day i will go to work and stab everyone to death or get a stroke on the mrt.)
