yet another case.

what’s wrong with us? is it really because we’re all too young and unsettled? or maybe it’s just the attitudes we’ve adopted towards relationships. my mom thinks it’s because people nowadays care only about themselves, that’s why they break up at the slightest hint of inconvenience or unhappiness. i quite agree..but i don’t really see what’s wrong with that attitude (well, besides the fact that it makes lasting and loving relationships pretty much impossible) Isn’t it only right to want to feel happy and needed in a relationship? I mean, what’s the point of being in a relationship if you’re constantly treated badly? my mom would prob say relationships have always been difficult, the difference is that people during her time would grit their teeth and stick it out, while people now quit and run for greener pastures. hmmm..but if u can be happier elsewhere and if u deserve better, why should u stay on in suffering? i think the fact that i ask such qns already shows how deeply set this attitude is. self-centredness indeed.

Have you heard Love by John Lennon? It makes you want to believe true love exists, the type of love that makes you become a better person, that gives you strength to hold each other up, that gives you the grace and patience to accept flaws, that gives you courage to completely trust another person. actually the lyrics don’t say all that, but that’s the picture in my head when i hear it.

i think i’m a long long way from that. most of us are.
